“King's breakfast, prince's lunch, poor man's dinner” goes an old proverb about how much and when you should eat during a normal day. But is it really so? It would seem so because recent studies confirm the existence of better times than others in which to eat and stay healthy. (Read also: To lose weight, change the times you eat! The new study that tells you how)

We all have our own internal biological clock, or circadian rhythm, which marks the phases of the day in which we are more active, more tired, more fit and this incredible mechanism is related to power and should never be ignored when following a diet.

Tests have shown that following popular diets involving low rations throughout the day could not only be harmful to the body, but would be ineffective in terms of the desired weight loss.

To keep your body healthy and take the calories it really needs, you should therefore take into account your biorhythm and eat more in the time span that goes from 9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. The researchers observed two groups of people in a state of obesity and gave them two different diets: one with a higher caloric intake between breakfast and lunch and the other between lunch and dinner. The group that ate more in the morning and early afternoon lost much more weight and inches on the abdomen than the other group who ate more in their evening meals.

Our body, synchronized with its circadian cycle, is in its maximum functions in the phases ranging from breakfast to lunch which would therefore be the best times to eat, gradually decreasing the quantities of food to be consumed towards dinner.

Habits like skipping breakfast or eating evening snacks are not as advisable or as healthy as you might think.
