    Cannabidiol, a derivative of the cannabis plant, could prove to be a valuable aid in improving the quality of life, but there are still few studies to support this thesis.

    The Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved a study for evaluate the possible beneficial effects of CBD products - or based on cannabidiol, a component deriving from the cannabis plant known for its positive effects on our immune system, nervous system and skin. The study involved around 3.000 volunteers, who took five different types of CBD-containing botanicals; next to these, a control group, which was not administered any drugs.

The study, which started in August, lasted four weeks and used standardized health indices to collect real and objective data on a heterogeneous population basis, diversified by ethnicity, age groups, geographical area, behavioral habits and styles of life, but also the presence of pathologies or other health problems. Although the full results will only be published early next year, the first data collected show that participants experienced significant improvements in all areas analyzed by the researchers, already in the first week of use of the products. In particular:

    • 71% of participants found a 71% improvement in their overall well-being;
    • 63% experienced a clinically significant improvement in anxiety;
    • 61% experienced a clinically significant improvement in sleep quality;
    • 47% found a clinically significant decrease in pain conditions;
    • 61% reported an effect within one to four hours of taking the product.
