Christmas, time for gifts, time for toys. But do you know what are the real consequences of the increased demand for children's products by the most developed countries, in view of the eve of the night, for those who produce them? Just look at the photos taken by Michael Wolf in “The Real Toy Story” to understand it.

The protagonists are the thousands of Chinese workers, who they produce as much as 75% of the toys in the world, including Mickey and SpongeBob, in inhumane conditions to say the least. Paid miserably, they are forced to endure grueling shifts, unpaid overtime, physical and verbal abuse, lack of safety regulations and zero training.

The workers, as documented by the photos taken by Wolf in 5 different factories in China, often sleep on the ground or eat in the workplace. Sometimes they are even minors. To complete the disarming picture there are also frequent injuries, very low living standards, practically non-existent toilets and inhalation of toxic chemicals.

We often worry about the toxicity of the materials we expose our children to, from lead to toxic paints to BPA, but we don't think about what workers who handle them directly in toy factories are exposed to, most of which do not have. even access to gloves or basic masks.

Instead this is something to think about every time we are preparing to make a purchase, because every toy made unfairly, through forced labor and unfair working conditions, has no place. never again on the shelves of our supermarkets, or in our homes.
