The trick to get rid of unnecessary things and feel good about yourself

    The trick to get rid of unnecessary things and feel good about yourself

    It is spring and it is time for great cleaning and to organize the house, giving away what we no longer need, but which we continue to keep. But how to give away the superfluous and feel good without being targeted by feelings of guilt? We explain the trick

    He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

    The arrival of spring coincides with the first big cleanings of the season, and probably of the year, to change the air of the house and its furnishings. It is time for order and decluttering, the art of getting rid of bulky and superfluous objects that do not make us live well and that we could give to someone who really needs them.

    However it's not that easy to let things go which may come in handy in the future or clothes that maybe we could wear later and that it is really a shame to give away. For a whole range of objects, feelings of guilt they are always around the corner, hindering us in our decluttering mission. And if Marie Kondo's “KonMari” method doesn't seem to work fully for these objects, there is a trick that author and productivity expert Jandra Sutton uses to make room in her daily life.

    His trick is in the divide the superfluous into 3 categories:

    • things I absolutely want to keep;
    • things I want to get rid of;
    • things I want to hide.

    This last point is a middle ground between keeping something and giving it and that's exactly what the trick is. By entering this small intermediate step, we put aside objects we are not 100% sure about, as if we were hiding them in front of our eyes and taking more time to decide about their fate. This makes the choice easier and it gives us serenity and greater psychological well-being.

    Little by little, each according to their own times. The important thing is to proceed and realize that every small step is still a success.

    Decluttering is a fundamental process for reorganizing one's home and one's life, without drastic upheavals. There are in fact some objects to which we link particular memories and from which it may seem difficult to detach ourselves in such a clear way without feeling guilty for the gesture we are about to make. Other items could actually be reused in some time. This trick could be the solution to everything.
