Here are some tricks to perfume our home in a natural way, taking advantage of the heat emanating from our radiators

In winter it can be difficult always have a fragrant home, since we tend to keep doors and windows closed so as not to let the heat emanating from the heated radiators escape. But the radiators can prove to be valid allies to add a pleasant scented note to our apartment and make our rooms even more welcoming. It will be enough to know how to exploit the heat emanated by the radiators to our advantage, which will help us to diffuse pleasant natural fragrances at home.

The trick of the cloth

If we have essential oils at home, we can easily create a "deodorant" for rooms that works with the heat of radiators. All we need to do is take a cotton or microfiber cloth, wet it slightly with water and pour a dozen drops of essential oil of our choice (we recommend the oil of lavender essence , with calming and relaxing properties). Then place the cloth on the radiator, and the heat will spread a pleasant fragrance throughout the room. If we do not have essential oil, we can replace it with a few drops of orange or lemon juice, which will give a citrus note to the environment.

Peels of oranges and tangerines

As an alternative to the damp cloth, we can directly use the citrus peels of winter (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, tangerine) to enrich our home with perfume: it will be sufficient to place the skins on the radiator and let the high temperature act as a fragrance amplifier. Pot pourri

Finally, we can use dried flowers and herbs to perfume the rooms: we can buy a potpourri ready in a herbalist's shop or make it ourselves, leaving the flowers and aromatic herbs (such as sage and rosemary) to dry in the sun.

Obviously drying the flowers is a job to be done in the summer, when the high temperatures and the sun's rays allow uniform drying - in winter we would risk not completely drying our petals, which would end up giving off an unpleasant musty smell. If we have a cotton bag (the kind we use as a candy box), we can fill it with our mix of flowers and herbs and hang it on the radiator knob.

Glass jar with water

Alternatively, we can also fill some glass jars with boiling water in which we will leave the dried flowers to infuse and place it over the radiator: the perfuming effect is guaranteed!
