Il creative recycling reaches the'Ethiopia thanks to one tribe who decided to collect the waste and turn it into jewelry and accessories. The creations of this tribe are truly original, but at the same time they make us reflect on how much the waste problem is now spreading all over the world.
I Daisy they are a semi-nomadic tribe made up of about 50 people living in the Omo valley, in southern Ethiopia. In the past the tribe wandered from one place to another with their flock according to the seasons and the availability of water.
Now it has reached a situation of semi-permanent moving to the regions closest to the Omo River, where he devoted himself to agriculture in order to have food available in sufficient quantity to survive.
The French photographer Eric Lafforgue spent several years documenting the life and culture of this tribe and was able to take pictures that portray the creations made from waste, objects and waste materials such as bottle caps, old wristwatches, hair clips, pieces of plastic and metal.
We are truly amazed by their ability to transform and reuse waste and unused objects to give life to truly original creations with few materials and tools available.
Some headdresses take weeks to make. These creations are dedicated to both adults and children. Children receive a version that is easier to wear and less elaborate, but still very particular. We just have to admire the fantastic creations of this tribe in the photographs taken by Eric Lafforgue.
