The sweet grandmother at the window who greets the children of the school bus every day

Sometimes it takes very little to give others a little happiness: as in the case of the grandmother of Arlington, in the state of Washington (USA), who every day, for five years, looked out of her living room window to greet the school bus children. A small gesture that had become, for her, for the little students and even for the driver of the minibus, a fixed appointment, a small daily ritual. Until, one day, passing in front of that window as always, the children and the driver found it empty.

Sometimes it takes very little to give others a little happiness: as in the case of Arlington Granny, in the state of Washington (USA), which every day, for five years, she went to the window of her living room to greet the children of the school bus.

A small gesture that had become, for her, for the little students and even for the driver of the minibus, a fixed appointment, a small daily ritual. Until, one day, passing in front of that window as always, the children and the driver found it empty.

The absence of the "Granny of the window" - this is the name that the children of school bus number 7, not knowing her personally, had given to the old woman who, every day, looked out to greet them and give them a smile - it did not go unnoticed, especially as time passed and the granny did not come back.

Worried about that prolonged and abnormal absence, Carol Mitzelfeld, the bus driver, searched for information and found that the granny - the XNUMX year old Louise Edelen - she had had a stroke and was admitted to a rehabilitation center, assisted by the equally elderly husband. Mitzelfeld then sent her a bouquet of flowers, with her greetings and with those of all the schoolchildren of bus number 7, wishing her a speedy recovery.

The grandmother of the window was very pleased with the thought: for her, her husband explained, the appointment with the children of the school bus was an indispensable ritual, which helped her to spend her day better, to have something to wait for.

After the flowers were delivered, a sign with the words "Thank you!" Appeared on the window of Edlen's living room. Noticing it, the children of the minibus felt happy to have given a little joy to their grandmother and, together with the driver, they thought of giving her another gift, simple but of great symbolic value: they had their photos taken on the school bus as they lean out of the windows to say hello, realizing a painting that Mitzelfeld personally brought to Louise Edlen, visiting her at the rehabilitation center.

A few weeks after admission, the grandmother at the window was finally discharged: knowing that they would find her in her place, ready to greet them, the children of the school bus greeted her with horns, trumpets, smiles and greetings, composing the words "Welcome home", "Welcome home" on the windows of the yellow bus.

A show of affection that warms the heart and is worth a thousand words.
