The first thought comes to children, they deserve all the serenity and happiness of a magical party. This is why the "Suspended toy”, Which has now become a Christmas tradition: in toy shops and participating bookstores, whoever wants to can buy a toy to leave and thus allow those who need it to withdraw it.





    Now in its fifth year, the initiative is promoted by the Department of Heritage, Public Works and Youth of the Municipality of Naples with the aim, as stated in the press release, to "recognize the right to play - enshrined in art . 31 from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - as a fundamental tool for the development of the child ".

    A well-established way, therefore, to offer disadvantaged families the opportunity to ensure their children a Christmas gift. With the "Suspended toy", in fact, those who can give toys to less well-off children: anyone who buys a toy can leave another in the shop and assign it to those who have difficulty buying it.

    For now, the owners of toy shops and bookstores interested are invited on the Municipality website to join the initiative to submit their candidacy.

    Meanwhile, here are some names of participating shopkeepers: Junior Toys, Casa mia, Natullo toys, Leonetti, La Girandola toys in Via Nicolardi, La Girandola in Via Toledo, Baby Bendrew, Arcobalocchi toys, Bibi, children's library, La Città del Sole Napoli Chiaia , the Mancini bookshop, the Lieto bookshop.

    “This year we are particularly happy to re-propose the 'Suspended toy', which has now become a Christmas tradition - declares the Councilor for heritage to Il Mattino, ai ll.pp. and to the young Alessandra Clemente. In this period in which the limitations imposed by the health emergency are many and the local trade is in great trouble, it is more important than ever to support those shops that are the soul of the streets of our city. It is possible, respecting the legal requirements for the containment of Covid-19, to safely donate Christmas gifts, toys, books, drawing materials which, in these days of isolation, become particularly important for children. Today we publish the notice to traders who want to join the event and we ask those interested to send us the appropriate request following the published indications ".



    How the donation works:

    • whoever makes the donation will collect a receipt
    • at the same time the shopkeeper will take note, in a special register, of the name of the donor, the date of purchase, the serial number of the receipt and the chosen toy model
    • people who request it will be able to collect the gift by delivering a copy of their valid identity document to the shopkeeper
    • the shopkeeper will issue a fiscal receipt with an amount equal to zero or a fiscal receipt bearing the words "unpaid consideration" and will keep copies of the identity documents of those who benefit from the gift, for later confirmation
    • the check on the correct carrying out of the initiative will be ensured by the Local Police of the Municipality of Naples
