This is the provocation that comes from the design studio Cod Steaks, which in Bristol made a huge sculpture, with two life-size whales swimming in a real ocean of garbage.
The aim was to "highlight the threat of pollution in the oceans“, As the website of In a Bottle, and thus try to raise public awareness on the high level of pollution of the world's seas.
Made from all the plastic bottles collected by the Bristol Half Marathon and the Bristol 10k Race, the sculpture weighs a whopping six tons.

But how are the seas really put? The researchers elaborated the estimate thanks to a mathematical model that connects the quantity of solid waste produced by a country with the population density and the economic condition and so it was not difficult that in the ranking of the twenty largest producers of waste, the China placed first.
In short, the problem of pollution of the seas has been going on for too long and, if here and there someone has proposed some solution to stem it, one last fundamental step is always missing. That of governments, which should not waste time and do more to reduce waste and improve plastic recycling.
