In the extraordinary photograph taken by Giannobile the two cylindrical clouds are simultaneously illuminated by the glow of the Moon growing phase and from the hot lava flowing along the sides of the Sicilian volcano.

The photographer went to Sicily at the end of July, during the eruptions of Etna, to photograph the conjunction between the Moon and the star Aldebaran, and was able to achieve this almost by chance. spectacular shot in which the clouds appear aligned with the cone of the volcano.

Thanks to the images immortalized by Giannobile, a time-lapse video was also made in which the formation and movement of the clouds above the volcano are visible while the stars slide in the background.
