One next to the other. Seated in a bar, apparently together, but each with their eyes turned towards their hands holding a cold and lifeless object: the smartphone. A company from which now (unfortunately) we never part. The American photographer Eric Pickersgill he tried, at least for once, to snatch the phones from the hands of his subjects Images. And the result should tell us a lot.
An idea came to Eric during a chance encounter in a New York bar. “A family sits next to me in a coffee shop but everyone is disconnected from the other,” she says. “They didn't talk much. The father and two daughters were using their mobile phones. The mother, on the other hand, did not have it or had chosen to put it away. She stared out the window, sad and alone ”.
A scene that, with a little attention, we too can see everywhere, every day.
Thus was born the significant collection of photos entitled "Removed”, In which Eric asked his subjects, friends, relatives and sometimes strangers and to stay in position after suddenly removing the smartphones from their hands.

The smartphone "ghost" it was used by the photographer to understand how technology affects our lives and how electronic devices are changing society and relationships.
Overwhelmed by technology, which promises to bring but actually pushes away.
