The seven-year-old girl born without hands is a champion of handwriting

Here is a very sweet story, which reminds us that wanting is power and that motivation and tenacity can help overcome even seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It is the story of Anaya Ellick, an American girl born without hands and who a few days ago won a national competition dedicated to handwriting, beating the competition of 50 other little "scribes".

Here is a very sweet story, which reminds us that wanting is power and that motivation and tenacity can help overcome even seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It is the story of Anaya Ellick, an American girl born without hands and who a few days ago won a national competition dedicated to handwriting, beating the competition of other 50 small "scribes".

Looking at Anaya, some will see a little girl whose life is filled with challenges, limitations and difficulties. Others, however, will recognize in her an authentic source of inspiration. Because this little woman of just seven years does not allow herself to be limited in any way by her disability: on the contrary, her life flows in an absolutely normal way, both at home and at school, where she keeps pace with her peers and able-bodied friends.

Anaya is in first grade at the Greenbrier Christian Academy di Chesapeake, Virginia, and just got the Nicholas Maxim Special Award for Excellence in Handwriting, the section dedicated to children with disabilities of a national competition which for twenty-five years has promoted comprehensible handwriting among American students.

Little Anaya's test astonished the jury, who found that there is no difference between her writing skills and those of her able-bodied peers. Still, Anaya, who does not use prosthetics, writes holding the pen between her forearms.

"Anaya is a truly remarkable child." - he has declared Tracy Cox, director of the Greenbrier Christian Academy - "If she has decided to do something, no obstacle can stop her."

By winning the contest, the little girl was awarded a trophy and a check for $ 1000. And, thanks to her, her school was also rewarded, receiving a gift certificate to spend on editorial products and digital resources for students and teachers.

Anaya does not see her disability as a limit, she does not consider herself "different" and wants to be autonomous and independent even outside the school walls: a desire that is expressed in all moments of everyday life.

“He laces his shoes. She dresses herself. " - Her mother told about it, Bianca Middleton - "He does everything without needing assistance."

A wonderful example for all of us, who too often allow ourselves to be overcome by minimal and surmountable difficulties.
