What our friends do cats when are they alone? How they spend theirs moments of absolute privacy? Theoretically we can not know, but to reveal the background of the secret life of cats it was the with the BBC which in collaboration with the Royal Veterinary College has created a nice documentary by Title The Secret Life of the Cat within the Horizon program. Are you curious to know?

Don't worry. In our absence, our cat spends its time mainly to perform territorial raids. Other times he just goes hunting. Studying animals in nature without disturbing their natural behavior and without bothering them has never been easy, but in recent years some technologies they allowed them to watch what happens in the fascinating world of animals without causing them any discomfort.

Using collars equipped with GPS with high precision and with electronic sensors to record the activity and movement of furry friends, the group of veterinarians monitored the behavior of 50 cats for 24 hours. The technique had been used so far to monitor and control the health of the wildlife, as happened with wild cheetahs in Botswana. But no one had ever applied it to study of the behavior of cats.

Although they live with us, we don't always know exactly what they need and how they are. For this the Horizon program set out to learn how to know these pets well, and he did so by watching the work of Ginger, Chip, Orlando, Hermie, Phoebe and company, a beautiful team of cats that populate the village of Shamley Green, in Surrey.

The sensors therefore detected the actual animal movements. In this way, cats have been peeked at them from the hunt, stealing food from some other puppy's bowl.

And the results, according to the researchers, would open the eyes even to those who are sure they know their feline in depth. "The project was fascinating for us and for what it allowed us to learn about cats and their human interactions" explain BBC experts.

The results showed that the cats were quite sedentary and that despite having freedom of movement, they tended to stay within the village boundaries. Perhaps because of the ease with which they can find food. Another thing that emerged from the observation is that cats often go to houses other than their own. But not all days are the same. Their daily activities are in fact influenced by various factors, such as time, temperature, nutrition.

All in all, not too different from us.
