To immortalize the seal and the whale was the Australian photographer Robyn Malcolm who spotted the two creatures near Eden, New South Wales.
The man was admiring the spectacle given by a pod of whales, but he hadn't noticed the surprise guest. In the midst of the herd of humpback whales in the waters of Eden, a small seal has carved out a space for itself to consume the rich fish-based feast that the humpback whales were consuming.
A rather unusual company, a real one rarity.
"We had seen some amazing whales come out of the water, everything was happening so fast", he said Malcolm to the Sydney Morning Herald. "It was when I went back from the photos that I realized I had actually captured the seal on the back of the whale."
a fake? Malcolm denied this accusation by explaining that he cannot use Photoshop and that his camera's memory still contains the original photos.
A lucky encounter in one of the best times for whale-watching in Eden and Narooma. Here the humpback whales eat and rest during the long journey back to Antarctica.
