The Salento school that applies the distancing between classes with street art

The Salento school that applies the distancing between classes with street art

In Mesagne, street artist Steven Parpanesi decided to help the little ones in the gradual transition from nursery school with graffiti.

Flowers and colors and a single goal: to make the decidedly sui generis start of this school year as less traumatic as possible for the little ones. And if many have tried to involve pupils in the new way of understanding the classroom by transforming the desks in the best possible way, many others have focused on painting and creativity.

This is the case of the first elementary schools of the “Giovanni XXIII” and “Giovanni Falcone” schools of Mesagne, a town in Salento. Here the street artist from Brindisi of origin, but Mesagne by adoption, Steven Parpanesi, has decided to help the little ones in the gradual transition from nursery school with wonderful graffiti.

The young artist is already known in Mesagne for having entirely decorated during the summer a street in the historic center turned upside down due to a construction site, bringing us the sea and its creatures.

In this alley of Mesagne a great work of street art restores color to the gray of a construction site

Now, however, in front of the schools, Parpanesi has painted large rectangles full of colored flowers on the asphalt, each corresponding to a section of the first classes, which will cross the threshold of the school on September 24th. In each rectangle there will be a limited number of 15 children spaced from the other classes.

In this way the disorientation of the little ones, already frightened of them by the transition to the "school of adults" will probably be less traumatic and more joyful. The first day will be so cheerful and colorful, the children will find themselves surrounded by flowers and willing to stay in their assigned seats before entering the classroom.

And not only that: there is one more reason why Parpanesi has decided to accept the new assignment:

“My sister went to that school, I couldn't say no. I designed her flowers thinking of her ”. Kimberly is always in her brother Steven's thoughts: she died at 19 and the colors he leaves on her way are always in her memory.

    Nice work Steven!
