The photographer's hilarious shots immortalizing cats and dogs that look like their owners

Gerrard Gethings is an English photographer passionate about the animal world who enjoys finding the similarities between dogs, cats and their respective owners. And his photo projects have become successful memory games.

"Such a dog, such a master" goes a famous saying and in some cases it really is. And speaking of similarities between dogs and owners, did you know that there is even a board game (also available on Amazon) entitled Do You Look Like Your Dog? It is a hilarious memory game, made with images of Gerrard Gethings, an English photographer passionate about the animal world who enjoys finding the similarities between dogs, cats and their respective owners. His colorful shots are very popular on social media and in these days some of his works will be exhibited in the Fotografiska museum in Stockholm and at Walloon Life, in Belgium.

The Do You Look Like Your Dog? Photographic project

Gerrard Gethings lives and works in London. In 2017 he started the Do You Look Like Your Dog? Project. For about a year he has immortalized pairs of dogs and owners for the memory game that has been a great success all over the world. But photographing dogs is much more difficult than you think.

“Taking pictures of animals is complicated in almost every way. I've never met one with the slightest interest in photography, ”admits the photographer.

Here are some of his shots, also included in the board game:

The Do You Look Like Your Cat? Photographic project

After the success of the photographic project dedicated to the similarities between dogs and their owners, Gerrard Gethings has decided to replicate with cats as well. As happened a few years ago, even the series of shots dedicated to cats has become a very nice memory game.

But Gerrard Gethings is not the first to do photo shoots of this kind. A few years ago we told you about the project Underdog by Swiss photographer Sebastian Magnani who, using Photoshop, literally put the dogs in the shoes of their masters.
