He became the protagonist of a terrible gesture. He cut the vocal cords of 34 dogs held in an illegal kennel. It happened in Spain, near Granada. Fortunately, the man was arrested by the Vegas del Genil Civil Guard and is accused of animal abuse.
It all started with the complaint from the Vegas del Genil group of volunteers for the protection of animals (Protección Animal Vegas del Genil). As the volunteers explained in a video posted on YouTube, during the walks with the dogs they care for and host in their shelter, they heard numerous barks and moans coming from the dryer.
So they reported the matter to the Municipality which, in turn, reported the incident to the Civil Guard.
The police began to investigate and found that a 44-year-old man raised some dogs in an old tobacco dryer, a very common type of building on the Granada plain surrounding the capital. On November 21, officers entered the illegal kennel and found 98 dogs of particularly sought after breeds, such as Poodles, Pomeranians, Chihuahua, Maltese and Spitz. According to the Civil Guard, despite being many and in a very small space, the animals were in good health. But 34 dogs had severed vocal cords.
While inspecting the facilities, the officers found that some dogs moved their mouths but did not bark. The man thus admitted to investigators that he had cut the vocal cords of many of his animals to prevent their barking from revealing the location of his business.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that agents have discovered this practice in illegal farms. The dogs that undergo this surgery are the older, less attractive to potential buyers.
Now the man faces 18 months in prison, too little for the terrible deed he made. In the meantime, a solidarity contest has started. Many have asked to adopt one of the dogs:
"They are waiting for the judge to tell us what he will do with them ... But while you wait to welcome one of these precious purebred dogs, there are hundreds of dogs waiting in the many associations and shelters for abandoned animals, including the Group's animal shelter. Vegas Animal Protection Volunteers ”reads the Association's post.
