Looking at it from the outside, it looks like a container, and in fact it originally was, but it has been cleverly transformed into an off-grid, sustainable, comfortable and cost-free home.

Mortgage, bills, house taxes. A solution ecologica to say goodbye to all this already exists and is also economic. Is called Living Big in a Tiny House. From the outside it looks like a container, and in fact it originally was, but it has been cleverly transformed into one casa off grid, sustainable, convenient and at no expense.
The new example of tiny house off grid comes from New Zealand, exactly from Auckland where the micro-house designer Brenda Kelly has created this special home, using only 4 of the 6 meters of the container. This has allowed her to stay under 10 square meters and will not need permits and consents from Council under Australian law.
Those who design and build tiny-houses know that size matters and that the house must be small enough not to require building permits, also guaranteeing owners to save on materials and maintenance, without giving up a fully functional home.
Nothing is missing from the container house. The interior is well lit thanks to the light coming from the outside and well furnished with a modern style in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Above these chambers there are transparent covering sheets which guarantee thenatural daylight.
The novelty of the house, compared to its peers, concerns the position of the living room and the bedroom. In most of the micro-homes the bedroom is lofted but here, Brenda has favored the living room, which is located above the sleeping area. However, there is also space to sit on the bed and read, while a wardrobe for clothing has been created under the stairs.
The kitchen is one of the most evocative spaces in this house. A portable gas burner to be extracted if necessary, it allowed Brenda to have more space and not need to make a contract for the supply of gas.
And for larger meals, there is the barbecue just outside the door, in a covered area sheltered from any rain.
The cost? About 30.000 Australian dollars (20 thousand euros) without expenses related to consumption.
