A couple of Colombian architects, Miguel Niño and Johanna Navarro, decided to collaborate for reinvent traditional bricks in the name of energy saving. In their opinion, new technologies are not needed to maintain the right temperature in buildings.

In particular, they wanted to have building materials available that could be produced on a large scale without problems and used to build better homes in their country.

They have thus given birth to bricks that they are capable of regulate the temperature of the houses in a natural way and thus reducing the need for additional materials, for example for insulation and finishes. In this way, construction times are drastically reduced and savings can be made.

What differentiates these bricks from others? The genius of the idea is above all in the crafts and in their semi-hollow core. To create them, the architects thought of merging the classic rectangular shape of the bricks with a square shape that was nothing short of original.

The gaps inside the bricks serve as ventilation channels. Traditional bricks allow you to create a flat wall whose surface heats up more easily, while the triangular shape helps to maintain a more constant temperature by reducing heat build-up.

The shape of these bricks also facilitates thesound insulation and can be used to beautify facades without the need for additional finishing. The hope is that simple building bricks can improve the quality of life of people in their homes.
