The new Asics Earth Day Pack shoes and sportswear collection is made from the recycling of 5 tons of fabric waste

More and more companies are starting to present eco-sustainable collections. One last novelty concerns the well-known sports brand Asics that launched the Earth Day Pack, released just in the week in which Earth Day is celebrated. The collection includes a series of products made with tons of recycled fabric scraps.

Even the way we dress and the shoes we wear "weigh" on the environment but it is certainly a good opportunity, in the perspective of a circular economy, to be able to choose more sustainable shoes and clothing, created starting from from the recycling of old materials.

This is what Asics offers with its new Earth Day Pack collection, designed for all sportsmen who, in addition to their own training, want to have an eye for the environment. To make the shoes of the line, but also the garments of which it is composed, were used 5 tons of textile waste (to get a more concrete idea of the amount of recycled fabrics this is equivalent to 25 thousand t-shirts).

The Japanese company has included in this new green collection some of the most famous shoe models of the brand: Gel-Nimbus ™ 23, Glideride ™ 2, Gel-Lyte ™ III, Skycourt ™ and the Tarther ™ Blast. On all the shoes there is a drawing of a sunflower and a series of seeds that symbolize the company's environmental commitment. The two arrows in the center instead refer to the circular economy.

As the Japanese company specifies, the percentage of recycled materials used in each product of the new collection is variable. For running shoes, at least 30% of the upper is polyester while for sportstyle and tennis shoes it is at least 40%.

The collection has a low environmental impact not only for the recycled materials with which it is made but also for another aspect. This involves the use of solution dyeing for the tongue of the shoes, a technology that allows significant energy savings and a reduction in CO2 emissions (by 45%) and water used (by 33%) compared to generally used painting methods.

It is not actually the first time that Asics has launched a collection from recycled fabrics. In March, the Sunrise Reborn Pack had already been presented, made in part from the recycling of clothing collected in Japan.
