What's going on? Over the last few months, the local population has noticed a great scare for animals precisely because of this mysterious noise coming from the ocean.

A Canadian military plane has conducted various multi-sensory research in this area but so far it is not really able to give an explanation to the acoustic anomalies.

According to a spokesperson for the Ottawa Department of National Defense the cause of the noise remains a mystery.

The sound is sometimes described as a hum or as a 'beep' or ‘hum’ and was heard all summer about 120 kilometers from the village of Igloolik. It seems that the sound is coming from the seabed.

According to the locals, the area affected by the origin of the mysterious sound during the summer has always been populated by seals and whales, while this year at that time no one has been sighted.

But the company explained to CBC News that it is not conducting any surveys in the area and that it has not placed any tools in the water. There are also those who think that these noises are unleashed on purpose to keep the animals away from the well-known hunting and fishing area in order to save their lives. Yet no one would have ever noticed boats venturing into those places to insert submarine sonars or other instruments.

Canadian military forces know the question of sound coming from the bottom of the oceans really exists and they will investigate to understand its origins.

Currently there are no answers, it is only feared that because of this sound the animals that have been a source of sustenance for the Inuit for years may disappear from one of their usual places.
