Is called Yi Jiefeng and is originally from Shanghai. Over the past twelve years she has planted millions of trees in China with the aim of reforesting the arid Alashan desert and to keep alive the memory of the son who died 16 years ago.

In 2000, his son Yang Ruizhe was killed in a tragic accident in Japan, an event that left his mother in despair. Her son had told her the dream of wanting to intervene for stop the advance of the desert in Northern China and the woman remembered his words and tried to make an effort to grant his wish.

Yi Jiefeng he founded the non-profit association Green Life in 2003. At first the woman and her husband encountered difficulties in planting trees in a desert area but over time the situation improved, also thanks to the help of some forestry experts.

The Green Life association is transforming the project into something much broader: new trees are planted in a desert area but we are also working to spread greater awareness of soil degradation. In China, large grasslands are turning into desert areas due to aridity and scarcity of rain. Probably the fault of climate change.

Secondo Yi Jiefeng la Cina ha un problema di desertification really serious. If the situation continues to worsen it will put the population in difficulty. Yi Jiefeng felt a real sense of responsibility and decided to act, for the good of China and in memory of his son.
