Dolls that overcome stereotypes and break down differences. Here's what she came up with Amy Jandrisevits, a kind-hearted mother who, with her creations, wants to send a very important message to children.

The dolls on the market all look the same and even if many companies have cleared customs for perfection, the road is still long and uphill. But there is a mom in Wisconsin who came up with a very original idea, that of making dolls with physical differences to show that every child is perfect the way she is.

Amy Jandrisevits hanciato A Doll Like Me convinced that every doll must look like the boy or girl who will play with it.

On Gofoundme, where Amy describes her project and ask for a crowdfunding, Amy describes herself like this:

"I am a doll manufacturer who believes that every child, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, medical problem or body type, should have a doll that looks like him."

Before becoming a mom, Amy was a social worker in the hospital's pediatric oncology unit.

“I worked with children, used dolls in play therapy to help them express themselves. They are therapeutic, they are in some way the representation of what a child loves ".

But one day Amy realizes that she was tired of showing children dolls with thick hair and in perfect health.

“Many of the children I followed had never had hair and didn't reflect themselves in those dolls. They kept asking me questions about why they didn't look like toys, ”she continues.

So Amy thought that she could create non-traditional dolls, starting with the one with an amputated leg intended for a little girl who had recently undergone this surgery.
Since then, she has never stopped and has already sewn 300 dolls, each one different from the other just like the children are.

Dolls cost around $ 100, but if someone can't pay for them Amy finds a way to deliver them anyway, that's the meaning of her crowdfunding.

Among the children who have a custom doll are Keagan, born with moles covering her body, and Hope, born with Poland syndrome. It seems like a great idea to us to give our children some confidence and encourage them to never give up.
