In the city of Bandung in Indonesia, Shau, a Dutch design studio has created one small library using over 2 thousand tubs of recycled ice cream.
To demonstrate that the recycled materials are not only wood, plastic crates and beer cans. According to the architects, the library that allowed to save on building materials and to respect the environment is a prototype for building similar structures in the future.
“Microlibrary adds identity and is a source of pride for all the people in the neighborhood. Our mission was to rekindle interest in books by offering a place dedicated to reading and learning, ”reads Shau's website.

The tubs of ice cream that line the exterior of the building allow light to be filtered and shadows to be created inside, so that the environment is both bright than fresh. They are connected to each other between steel and shielded with a translucent material.
In addition to being a sustainable building, the small library soon became a reference point for the community, a meeting place that helped improve a run-down area.
