With his very black hair, every day Bárbara Matos Costa of only 9 years, when he finishes school lessons, dedicates his time to Francisco Santana Filho of 68 who having started working as a child was unable to attend school.

This has been going on for two years now and the private and personalized lesson takes place in the courtyard of the Diocesan College of Crato. It all started when the girl asked the man if she could read and write. The negative response triggered a sense of solidarity towards 'Zezinho', the popsicle seller who has been there for 44 years.

The girl uses the same books with which she learned to read and write.

“It is the most beautiful thing in the world. For a few hours she dedicates herself to me ”, says the man, revealing that it was not his intention to learn ABC, but that he was unable to say no to the child's kind gesture.

Francisco was born and raised in Crato. He has been an ice cream seller since the age of 12 and knows all the children in the area, but no one had ever stayed with him for long, dedicating their time to him.

For Barbara this gesture came spontaneously, children always know how to surprise us with their affectionate ways and so the little girl has become for everyone a symbol of kindness and love towards others.
