The house is open to the public and can be visited by paying an entrance ticket of up to 3 dollars, the proceeds of which go entirely to a center specialized in trauma. The idea came from Bill Horton, general manager of the A&M Traditions Club, when, in September 2012, he saw a Food Network special about gingerbread houses. “Everyone was thrilled with our project,” says Harton. To make the exterior of the house entirely with ginger bread and icing, 816kg of butter, 7.200 eggs, 3266kg of flour, 1361kg of brown sugar and 22.304 candies were needed. The house has been equipped with every comfort, except, for obvious reasons, an internal plumbing system.
To win the record, the club had to assure the judges that the house is edible. The Guinness World Record boy, in fact, ate a piece to check that it was real gingerbread and icing. The over 2 thousand bees swarming around it, perhaps, they were already sufficient proof.
