A marine biologist filmed an octopus in its sleep and found that the animal changes color in relation to dream activity

David Scheel, a marine biologist, closely observed the behavior of a captive octopus and recorded in a video the color changes of the animal during sleep.
In the short documentary entitled "Octopus: Making Contact" the color transitions of the octopus are clearly visible, which from white first becomes yellow, then gradually darkens until it takes on a very dark shade and finally returns to white.
According to the biologist, the variation in the color of the octopus is due to thedream activity of the mollusk. In fact, Scheel believes that during its sleep the sea creature was dreaming of hunting and that this caused a change in the color of your body, which has gone from white to black. This is a phenomenon that occurs when the octopus is awake and is actually hunting, to blend in with the seabed and not attract the attention of the prey to itself.
“Right now he sleeps, he dreams of a crab and his color starts to change a bit, it gets darker. [...] It is her way of blending in with the environment [...] she is truly fascinating and, yes, she is dreaming. " Scheel explains in the video.
