A sloth was rescued after climbing an electric pole in Colombia's Antioquia province. The animal risked falling or being electrocuted; so the witnesses could not remain indifferent to the scene.
After receiving several calls, the workers of the Colombian holding company of public services Empresas Publicas de Medellin (EPM) went to the rescue of the animal.
Victor Hugo Lopez, an EPM employee, then climbed onto the electric pole and reached out to the sloth, which was initially frightened and kept walking away. The specimen finally came to his senses when Lopez spoke to him in a reassuring voice, so he clung to a broom held out by the man.
After a difficult 20-minute operation, the lucky animal was carefully brought down from the electric cables and released back into the wild the same day, unharmed.
