    Last Friday, however, the situation was reversed: a Saint Bernard found himself in difficulty on Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, at 978 meters, and was saved thanks to the work of sixteen volunteers del Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team.

    Daisy, one St. Bernard of four years for a weight of almost 60 kg, she was with her human friends on top of the mountain when she fell ill. The dog's hind legs collapsed and her pain prevented her from continuing on her walk.

    La rescue team, alerted by the police, intervened promptly and he worked for nearly five hours to save Daisy as the weather got worse and worse.

    Rescuers from the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team specialize in human rescue and have no experience with animals, but they haven't held back and, to better manage the situation, they turned to several vets for helpful advice for Daisy.

    At the doctors' instructions, the volunteers administered a pain reliever to relieve Daisy's pain, adapted the stretcher designed for humans for her, and offered her some treats to get her to help.

    At the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team we recognize that our mission - “To Save Life and Relieve Distress” - extends beyond the local visitors and community who visit or live within our area of ​​responsibility.
    Our team members have pets and the team relies on our beloved research dog Jess, so we recognize the anguish that an animal can feel as well as that of its owners.
    So, last night, when the Cumbrian police contacted us about a St. Bernard (Daisy) who had collapsed on his way down from the top of Scafell Pike, unable to move forward, our members didn't have to think twice about mobilizing and fielding for to help recover Daisy from the highest peak in England ”commented the heads of the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team.



    With a little persuasion and lots of bonbons, the volunteers managed to get Daisy to collaborate and transported the Saint Bernard to safety along the paths, as they are used to doing with humans.
