This time it's about the ostriches whose feathers and leather are used to make bags, shoes and accessories from prestigious fashion brands. Peta, the international association for the protection of animals, has revealed, thanks to an investigation, what lies behind the ostrich slaughter industry.
I young birds (who have just turned one) they suffer atrocious cruelty before they can take advantage of leather for Hermès, LVMH, Prada and other major European fashion houses. Not even the puppies of a few days are spared, small, tender and precious, who will never see their parents since they must be immediately used to make wallets.
Linvestigation, conducted by Peta Us managed to get into South African slaughterhouses managed by the two largest ostrich producers in the world, which they supply more than 85% of all ostrich products globally. In these places of horror the animals are first kept in dirty enclosures, then they suffer electric shocks and are beaten, killed, plucked and skinned with excruciating cruelty.
