The green house? Ready in 24 hours with 3D printing

Build one casa in the sun 24 orand, producing reduced emissions and using low amounts of electric energy. Still impossible today but soon this prospect could become reality thanks to the first Printer 3D designed to build homes.

At work on this big one robot-printer is Professor Behrokh Khoshnevis of the University of Southern California, who has long been engaged in the so-called Contour Crafting, a fast and efficient printing process, capable of creating large-sized works in a short time, while at the same time reducing energy requirements and consequently the production of polluting emissions.

So, after the Abit, it could also affect homes. This special 3D printer is equipped with two crane-like arms and a cross beam on which the print head is located. For the construction, the printer moves on some tracks depositing various layers of concrete but to operate it must have a lot of space and have already established foundations. Once this process is completed, the men will always complete the job, carrying out tasks such as fitting the doors and installing the windows. No loss of jobs, its creators assure, on the contrary. The printer may create new ones, explains Khoshnevis. here is the video showing the robot at work:

This new technique could therefore to reduce the pollution linked to construction, which currently accounts for approximately one third of the total energy consumption in the world and 40 percent of that of materials. Not to mention that the Contour Crafting system might as well reduce construction costs. It could also make it easier reconstruction of damaged houses from natural disasters or atmospheric events.

The only drawback: the project is still in test phase.
