The German village Wildpoldsried says goodbye to utility bills and oil and shows the world how renewables are the solution. A revolution is in fact in place in the small Bavarian town of 2500 inhabitants, which manages to produce the 500% of the energy he would need.
A miracle? No, just organization and desire to invest in the future. The administration of the country, in fact, in the last 18 years, has invested in several innovative energy projects which led to the installation of photovoltaic systems for 4.983 kWp (energy produced under full solar radiation), five biogas, 11 wind turbines and an efficient hydroelectric energy system.
Consequence? The country not only got the energy it needed, but now it has produces 5 times more and can enjoy the profits derived from sale of excess. A great blow, and a slap in the face to those who do not believe in the capacity of these sources of energy, renewable, non-polluting and which can generate income and jobs.

But not only. The city is also home to several biomass heating systems and 2.100 square meters of solar thermal. Five private residences are heated with geothermal systems and some new construction was built as'passive house', that is with rigorous energy efficiency technologies. And they are not uncommon either electric cars.
Of course it is a small town, it is not the same thing in big cities or in larger urban areas, which need more substantial investments both in terms of power and overall organization.

But Germany doesn't just have a small renewable village: the Germans are very close to producing the 30% of their energy from renewable sources, double that obtained by the citizens of the USA, where, we remember, it is thought of incentivize coal, obsolete, polluting and non-renewable.
It is the way of thinking that must change. Once that is done, the technology and the investments arrive.
