Passive house, synonymous with energy saving, of reduced consumption, of energy efficiency and of reduced environmental impact. There are now numerous examples, created or in the design phase, of an intelligent way of building (and living). FromEco Plus Home by Boch to the ecological house that will be presented at the next Architecture Olympics “Solar Decathlon Europe 2012. Up to first passive house made of Lombardia Gold Plus certified wood, who has just turned the first year of life.

It is a detached villa on three floors, for a total area of 600 square meters, of which 375 are habitable. The peculiarity of this house is that actual consumption amounts only to 100 €, considering the domestic heating and cooling.

Designed and built by BLM Domus - Division of the Bevilacqua Group, the small house located in Fagnano Olona, in the province of Varese, has passed with flying colors the CasaClima tests which certify its very low energy consumption.

The secret lies in the use of what nature offers, especially the solar heat that comes from large windows facing south, but also in the passive heat recovery of household appliances in operation and by the inhabitants. To season everything in a 10kw photovoltaic system capable of producing electricity, solar panels for domestic hot water and a vertical geothermal system, with the function of assisting the work of the heat pump in heating the home in the winter months and in the cooling at no cost (freecooling) in the summer ones.

Winter. In this first year of life, the house in Fagnano Olona remained at an average temperature of 20 ° C maintained for 98% with passive contributions. The remaining 2%, on the other hand, was achieved by means of the heat pump for a total of 340 hours, with an electrical consumption of 1.5 kw / h. And this is no small feat if we consider that in December 2010 the outside temperatures recorded a minimum of -6/7 ° C.

Summer. During the summer months, on the other hand, the average temperature was 23 °, guaranteed by solar shading, by an intelligent management of the windows and finally by the underfloor cooling in freecooling with the geothermal probes. In the summer, therefore, the house was cooled with 100% passive sources.
