They have always captured the curiosity of small and large because, thanks to the light they emit, they are able to create a truly suggestive night lighting. We are talking about the fireflies, one of the most unique insects in the world but also more a risk of extinction.

Years ago in many cities, especially in summer, it was possible to admire them but today due to thepollution and the consequent destruction of their natural habitat, are slowly disappearing.

As happens for example in China, where they are trying to repopulate the parks with bright beetles. One of the first where you are experiencing the creation of a colony is located in the city of wuhan, in the province of Hubei and for a year now the results seem to be satisfactory.

The park is part of a larger natural area, the East Lake Peony Garden and is divided into several areas: there is an area of breeding where the fireflies reproduce, another where visitors can walk directly among the insects and observe them from afar and finally, one dedicated to science where the why of theirs is studied luminescence.

The rapid Chinese urbanization has resulted in the disappearance, in some areas, of fireflies for this reason the park in Wuhan is very visited: for many it is theonly opportunity to see the fireflies that were imported from nearby Jiangxi. The insects are reacting well to the new habitat although work is still being done to ensure the life of the larvae during the period in which the park is closed.
