The feast of San Firmino canceled: Covid "saves" the bulls of Pamplona for the second consecutive year

The feast of San Firmino canceled: Covid

The Sanfermines, which attract thousands of tourists to the bull races that run through the streets of the town, have once again been canceled.

If we can somehow say thank you to this pandemic, it is because of having left the bulls. They are those of Pamplona: here the Sanfermines, the traditional celebrations of San Fermín, which attract thousands of tourists from all over the world to the bull races that run through the streets of the town, have been canceled for the second consecutive year.

This was announced in these hours by María Chivite, the president of the region of Navarre, in the north of Spain, and the cause, needless to say, are the gatherings that would be created. And the bulls thank you.

“An international festival like that of San Fermín - says Chivite - in which millions of people come to Navarre, will not be possible”.

The Pamplona festival takes place in July and lasts for nine days and is arguably Spain's best-known event. The party was popularized by Ernest Hemingway's novel "Fiesta" published in 1926.

Dear President @mavichina, you have good news for us: at least we will avoid the torture and murder of animals during the #Sanfermines for another year.

Before last year, the Sanfermines did not celebrate in 1937 and 1938 due to the Civil War. Not even in 1978, when a student died following violent riots in the square. They were not celebrated even in 1997 for the ETA attack in which a director of the PP was killed.
