A small but significant victory against those who exploit elephants thanks to the people of social networks: a poor abused pachyderm was saved; thanks to a video posted online, in which the animal was clearly seen while he was beaten.
We are in the Thrissur district, in the Kerala region of India. Here was; shot the video, later shared on social networks, which; shows the handlers of the elephant Karnan beating mercilessly; with long metal poles. The animal, chained, and tired, collapses to the ground while they continue to attack him with unprecedented violence. ;
@vfaes_org has investigated this story. Our founder has filed a complaint against owners & mahouts. A Case was booked by Trissur district forest officers. Mahouts were fired. The elephant has been transferred to Palakkad district, & is being monitored closely by the forest dept.

The horrible scene was shared by over 100 users, until it reached a non-governmental organization for animal rights, which thanks to this video was able to do justice to the abused animal. This is the Voice for Asian Elephants Society (VFAES), whose founder #SangitaIyer has filed a complaint against the owners and conductors.
The case was reported to forestry officers in the Thrissur district. Result? The mahouts were fired and the elephant was moved to a protected location, away from his tormentors and the tourism industry that wanted him as a slave.
