The dog sniffs a tumor and the owner is saved

The story of Lauren and her dog, who helped her find a tumor.

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

He sniffs her nose and discovers that his mistress has a tumor: it happens in the United States, where a dog has smelled strange smells around the central part of the young Lauren's face and is "alarmed", starting to behave abnormally. What Lauren was diagnosed with a few days later was cancer, caused by the abuse of tanning beds.

This is how Lauren Gauthier, 42 and a lawyer from Amherst, Massachusetts, owes her life to Victoria, the dog she had adopted after finding her on the street, blind in one eye and poorly fed.

We are not new to the ability of our four-legged friends to literally smell the presence of cancer. We have already been amazed by the cases of Ted, Frankie and Liù, now Victoria's is yet another example of how some dogs may be able to "smell" a tumor in advance and often with greater precision than conventional medical analyzes. .

It was spring 2017 when Lauren Gauthier realized her furry friend was staring at her face, focusing on her right nostril.

“At that moment I had what I thought was a pimple, but Victoria was staring at it, touching it with her nose,” says Lauren. And it seems that even when that red dot was temporarily gone, she Victoria continued to stare at that spot.

By the time that "pimple" returned a few weeks later, Victoria continued to highlight it, so she decided to see a doctor.

After the appropriate tests, the biopsy revealed that that red dot was a basocellular carcinoma, a form of skin cancer that caused Lauren to undergo the so-called "Mohs technique," a procedure that involves removing infected skin layer by layer.

Lauren Gauthier, who has done several tanning treatments in the past years, decided to publish her photos after the surgery: “I always thought that you should try to create something positive from your challenges, so I wanted to discourage the use of the tanning bed and helping others to undergo the Mohs technique ”.

No tanning beds and be careful when you go out in the sun. In addition to the unconditional love that our dogs can give us, from this news we also have another lesson: prevention with adequate lifestyles and following very simple rules is very important!
