The dark sides of fishing: the documentary that makes the fishing industry tremble is released today on Netflix

From today, March 24, the documentary "Seaspiracy" will debut on Netflix, showing the harmful consequences of man's impact on the ecosystems of the oceans.

“Seaspiracy” will be available from today on Netflix. The new documentary, which shows the harmful consequences of man's impact on ocean ecosystems, will in fact be available on the famous streaming platform starting March 24. The film was made by director Ali Tabrizi, passionate about the marine world and already known for the documentary "Vegan", released in 2018.

"Seaspiracy" is the result of years of research and inquiries, conducted - without many risks - by Tabrizi together with executive producer Kip Andersen (known mainly for the documentary "Cowspiracy") on a system of global corruption and the savage exploitation of natural resources, which causes numerous damages to marine species and the environment. The two did not discount anyone, bringing out the dark sides of intensive fishing and beyond.

"This film will fundamentally transform the way we think and act about ocean conservation forever." - explain the authors of "Seaspiracy" - The time has come to focus our ecological and ethical concerns on our seas and its inhabitants. "

If in 2014 the documentary “Cowspiracy” showed the dark sides of factory farming, the new Netflix feature is shaking the world of the fishing industry. There are only two days left until the release of Seaspiracy on the streaming platform, but it is already controversial. The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) intervened on the documentary, which wrote to Netflix harshly criticizing the documentary

“A vegan? To each the of him. But when you produce a ninety-minute piece of vegan propaganda and call it a 'documentary' it's fake, ”NFI President John Connelly said. NFI even suggested that Netflix create a new category of "propaganda" content, based on lies, exaggerations and conspiracy theories.

But “Seaspiracy” was conceived above all to stimulate greater awareness, on the part of individual citizens but also of institutions, on the destruction of the habitats of the oceans. Only by reversing the course can we try to stop the decline of oceanic biodiversity, which risks disappearing forever due to man.
