Small, but brave. The dachshund saves his best friend from a cougar attack in the Rocky Mountains

This dog may seem small, but he has a big heart for his best friend. Winston the dachshund proved his heroism when Mijo, a 15-year-old chiweenie (cross between Chihuahua and Dachshund), was attacked by a mountain lion.

We are located in Evergreen, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Their owners, Sarah Moore and Lindsay Golden, told local broadcasters that the dogs had left the house through an open door, into the open.

Within seconds, a cougar grabbed Mijo. So instead of running away in fear, Winston chased the big cat and barked until the cougar dropped it and left.

"This is his best friend, so I'm not surprised he chased him," Winston's owner Sarah Moore told.

As soon as the mountain lion let go and fled to the mountains, the attacked little dog was rushed to the vet by the owners.

Unfortunately, the dog has lost his right eye and may have some neurological damage. A GoFundMe page was created to help pay for medical bills.

Of course, he will always have a great little hero on his side.
