How do the world's grandmothers cook? The photographer took a gastronomic journey to discover traditional cuisines Gabriele Galimberti. His initial idea was to make a book on couchsurfing, visiting 50 countries, one a week, using the platform. Couchsurfing.org, the site that connects the people who make their home available to potential guests.

The photographer was therefore interested “in discovering this incredible community of people all over the world willing to share and give hospitality”. Before leaving he did visit to the grandmother, making her aware of his plans.

The woman, Marisa Batini, 80, from Castiglion Fiorentino was clearly worried, not for fear that her nephew was a guest of complete strangers. “Are you sure you want to go? What are you going to eat when you are away from home? You could stay here! You will find good food at home, ”the grandmother told the photographer. The latter found it very funny as well he answered that in the world there are many grandmothers: “I'm sure all of them would be able to prepare a good meal for me”. Thus was born the idea of making the world tour of grandmothers' kitchens.

Da Zanzibar to Brazil, from Philippines to grandma Marisa's kitchen. Here are the succulent meals consumed and photographed by Gabriele Galimberti.

An original tour, which brings tradition back to the fore, remembering that the best cuisine, despite everything, is always that of the grandmother.
