Was assigned to the Hangzhou City Planning Bureau a MVRDV, a famous architecture firm based in Rotterdam, the international award for the best project dedicated to China Comic and Animation Museum (CCAA). This winning study has brought forward an idea linked to the context of use, the comic. The building, formed by 8 volumes in the shape of 'balloon', will have the size of 30 thousand square meters.

I volumes interconnected with each other, allow a circular path inside the entire building, which houses various services, including three theaters / cinemas for a total of 1.111 seats and one library dedicated to comics, each of which occupies a certain comic volume. As you can see from the images, some of them are in contact with each other and allow you to move internally.

One of the balloonmoreover, it is dedicated tointeractive : Here visitors will be able to actively experience all kinds of animation techniques such as blue screen, stop motion, drawing and much more, The main attraction of this space is a gigantic zootropic 3D. The museum tour also allows you to make both short visits and longer tours.

All with a nod to the environment. In fact, the project includes a large number of interventions including the ground storage, natural ventilation and adiabatic cooling, all focused on an excellent energy efficiency rating. Furthermore, thanks to the aerodynamic shape, the wind pressure is also exploited with a consequent effect less need for air conditioning.

The start of the works is scheduled for 2012, while the total cost is around 92 million euro.
