The novelty is presented today, on the occasion of the inauguration of Ecomondo 2013, from Novamont, who created a family of biodegradable bioplastics e compostable characterized by a very high content of renewable raw materials. This reduces greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on raw materials of fossil origin for the production of the capsules themselves.
The capsule and pod coffee market has seen tremendous growth in recent years, bringing with it the waste problem. Hence the idea of responding to the need to make these containers sustainable. You can throw the biodegradable capsules and pods directly into the humid e without separating them from the coffee.
The biodegradable capsules and wrappers guarantee excellent packaging for coffee, thanks to hard capsules, filter papers, capsules in laminated cardboard and compostable fibers. ll portioned coffee, as a product used primarily in homes and offices, is preparing to become more sustainable from an environmental point of view. as pointed out in a note Alessandro Ferlito, sales manager of Novamont.
The new coffee containers are made of fourth generation Mater-Bi, a material that allows for the improvement of technical and environmental characteristics of the products and which reduces the content of non-renewable raw materials, responding in a concrete way to the serious environmental problem of non-recyclable waste. The new coffee capsules and pods are on display preview at the Novamont stand of Ecomondo (hall D1 position 035).
