The cat with the blue fur is very popular on Tik Tok: the reason why they have colored it like this is sadder than you think

On TikTok, the video of a cat with a blue painted fur has gone viral. Isn't this also a form of mistreatment?

A video showing a cat with a blue painted fur went viral on TikTok. The video, which gained over 4 million views, shows the feline by name Smurf inside a crate at a Michigan animal shelter. A young user named Theo published it.

The famous song Blue Da Ba Dee by Effeil 65 was chosen as the background for the video, but in reality Smurf's blue fur has nothing funny at all. Indeed, cats are often painted with paint or markers for a sad reason that not everyone knows.

This is Smurf, he entered the shelter with this aspect - explains Theo. - We don't know why Smurf is blue, but it looks like he's fine.

But the unusual coloring of the cat's coat has led many people to ask themselves some questions. In reality, the felines that are painted are usually used to lure dogs into illegal fighting circuits.

“It could be blue because the people who train dogs for fighting may have used it as a bait. I'm glad it's safe, ”comments one user on TikTok.

To explain some time ago how this cruel practice works also the Florida Naples Cat Alliance animal shelter:

In dog fights, markers and paint are used to color the white parts of kittens and kittens to bet on which color will die first. In this way they are "branded" and then thrown among the dogs as they fight while these barbarous and sick people place their bets. This is pure cruelty.

Fortunately, however, Smurf did not foresee injuries or injuries and a few days later Theo made it clear that, at least in this case, it is not a cat used as bait in illegal dog fights.

“Smur's owner contacted us saying that a pet-safe dye was used on him,” but a question naturally arises: What's the point of dyeing a cat? Isn't this also a form of mistreatment?
