It happens in Canada, Where is the supermarket IGA right on the large letters that dominate the roof of the shop he created a green and luxuriant vegetable garden and the products then end up on the shelves.

Twenty thousand square meters for an ambitious project in the neighborhood Saint-Laurent of Montreal. The idea is from the owner of IGA, Richard Duchemin:

“In recent years, people increasingly want to buy local products, which is why I thought a vegetable garden could be the right solution to satisfy customers,” he said.

All products are organic with lots of certification. Not only are all systems eco-friendly: from the system of dehumidification for example, the shop is irrigated. Thanks to the garden there is also a layer of insulation that breaks down the energy consumption of the locals, there are still bees and many birds.

The company that installed the garden is called 'Green Roof’ and creates green roofs for urban farmers. The project, explained in this video, is in an experimental phase, but there is a lot of optimism in the air.

If it goes well, other outlets will also use the same method, namely that of having 30 types of different products on your roof.

“It's strange that no one ever thought about it. Many restaurants have small gardens where they plant herbs. We are sure that the idea will be successful also because the products are sold at the same price as organic ones, without price increases ”, commented Duchemin.
