The sea in winter can be considered a real natural medicine. If it is true that it is the most popular destination for summer holidays, we must not underestimate the charm and suggestions that it manages to give us during the colder months.

The sea in winter can be considered a real natural medicine. If it is true that it is the most popular destination for summer holidays, we must not underestimate the charm and suggestions that it manages to give us during the colder months.

The solitary promenade, a few boats left on the coast, the seagulls looking for food and that magnificent silence that puts us in contact with nature. Going to the sea in winter is not sad, it is magical.

The deserted atmosphere, with the commercial activities closed, take us back to the dawn, to the boundless blue expanse in which the horizon can be seen and can be observed without being disturbed by the sound of the horns or the chatter of the people.

But going to the beach in winter also brings many health benefits, let's see which ones.

Iodine is a natural aerosol

Thanks to iodine and salt, the sea improves breathing thanks to a sort of natural aerosol that contains salts such as sodium and magnesium chloride, calcium, potassium, bromine and silicon and sea water. Take a few breaths on the coast to immediately feel better!

Blue relaxes the eyes

Blue is the color of relaxation par excellence, it is no coincidence that it is recommended for environments such as bedrooms and children's bedrooms. According to chromotherapy, blue represents calm, has a relaxing effect, which induces reflection and harmony. And where to observe it if not in the boundless sea?

The sound and movement of the waves relax body and mind

The rhythm of the waves can be associated with the perception of emotions. The sea increases our state of calm and well-being and the reason for this has a scientific explanation: the waves of the sea generate negative ions that produce molecular alterations in our body and cause feelings of peace and balance.

It makes the mind clear and creative

Water brings us back to our natural state whereby it stimulates our brain. If you notice, there are so many who go to the beach just when they have to develop a new project or make an important decision. Try it!

Stimulates the immune system

The sea strengthens the body's defenses and the immune system because thanks to the absorption of the trace elements present in the water and the sea salts, the body's balance is restored. Clearly in winter you will not have to take a bath in freezing water, just slightly wet your hands or, for the more fearless, feet.

It improves mood and decreases stress

Sand and sea are excellent tools to disconnect from everyday life and thus decrease the stress levels that we accumulate every day. For this purpose, it would be good to avoid bringing to the beach, or at least being constantly glued to smartphones and tablets to fully enjoy the benefits of the environment on the nervous system. It is also excellent to walk, among other things in our feet there are thousands of nerve endings and walking on the sand is a way to stimulate them by performing a real massage.

Calm anxiety

The sound of the sea is very beneficial for our nervous system. Listening to the waves crashing on the shore can actually calm anxiety and lull us into a relaxed state that allows for the release of dopamine and serotonin.
