    For this Chronicle Books, Little Free Library, and AIASF had launched a competition to redefine the design of these libraries that can be installed in gardens, city centers and in general in all public spaces.

    The goal is to foster the sharing books and spread the love of books and support the process literacy. And there were 300 architects, designers, students, but also simple enthusiasts who participated in the competition.

    Now you finally have the names of the winners, that is, of those who have managed to create a unique library, easily achievable and in line with the environmental sustainability.

    The judges' prize went to Owlie, the cute wooden owl made by the London designer Bartosz Bochynski who, despite being in miniature, is able to contain 40 books.

    “Owlie is made with ecological materials and affordable so that everyone can build one in their neighborhood. The books are located between his eyes and extracted from the outside, ”he explains Bartosz Bochynski.

    On the shelf, books also for the little ones, all the shelves are illuminated with LEDs and at night Owlie is even more suggestive.

    A choice that was very appreciated by the judges who gave the little owl the first prize. The choice of Chronicle Books instead it fell on Rachel Murdaugh created by the American Clark Nexsen Asheville. A dynamic and light library, made with eco-friendly materials that give an excellent result by spending just a little 40 euro. In the side there is a folding seat to be able to read comfortably.


    “I thought of a library that looked like a kiosk easy to assemble, simply open the base frame, fix the flanges and build the cabinet, an instruction booklet is supplied ", he explains Clark Nexsen Asheville.

    Finally Stewards’ Choice chose Tree of Knowledge by CIRCLE, made by the Japanese Ryo Otsuka e Lin Zihao. A tree of knowledge from clever design, conceptual and elegant that reproduces the shape of the trunk and blends perfectly into the environment.
