Build birdhouses to facilitate their stay in the cities. Here is the idea of Thomas Dambo, artist and designer who lives in Denmark, in Copenhagen. For his projects Thomas uses only recycled materials collected on the street and in landfills.
With his art he wants to convince citizens that waste can become a useful resource, as in the case of recovered wood to build well 3500 birdhouses. To give life to his Birdhouse Project he has put all his efforts into play, such as when dealing with more complex jobs, such as building and designing furniture.
Over the past seven years, it has created hundreds of birdhouses that have become part of animal protection projects proposed in numerous cities around the world.
The birds are among the few animals that still live in our cities and in the artist's opinion it is important to ensure that they can continue to live in the urban environment when natural spaces, due to man's fault, are scarce.
The artist recalls that it is easier for birds to use and find wooden houses when they are hung from tree branches in parks and gardens. The project will not work as well if the houses are hung from a lamppost near a noisy street.
In any case, the birdhouses made by Thomas can also become a truly original decorations for the facades of the houses, not only in the city but also in the countryside, where it will be easier for birds to approach and use them.
