Generosity has no age. This time it was gods who made a truly noble gesture very young Apulian students who have decided to donate some strands of their hair to women who have lost them due to anticancer therapies.

The initiative started from them, a group of about 20 students from the "Ottavio Serena-Pacelli" middle school Altamura who, after a meeting with the volunteers of the cancer hospital in the area, were particularly impressed and decided to give their contribution through a very strong symbolic gesture, to donate a part of their hair, which has always been a symbol of beauty and femininity.

The girls, helped by their teacher also flanked by a psychologist, first participated in the procession of Federicus, a medieval festival in the area where it is traditional for women to gather their hair in long braids, and immediately afterwards they donated some locks for the project "A room for the smile" he wants help cancer patients of the Oncology Department of the Murgia Hospital.

The locks of hair were cut on the spot by a hairdresser and immediately delivered to the project representative. Thanks to this small but precious gesture they can be make wigs for cancer patients who, undergoing chemotherapy, lost their hair.

So commented Rosanna Galantucci, coordinator of the hospital volunteer group:

"Has been a gesture of great spontaneity that makes us proud. It all started from the friendship between one of our volunteers, the psychologist Marialisa Moramarco, and a teacher, Grazia Perrucci. They talked about what we have been doing at the Murgia Hospital since September last year. For us these gestures are very important given the young age of the girls because in this way, in addition to volunteering, awareness is raised on prevention and the activity we carry out is made known, in favor of many women who want to find themselves while they are struggling against disease ".

The generosity and solidarity towards those who are most unfortunate that these girls showed immediately conquered the web. David Sassoli, Vice-President of the European Parliament, gave the news on social networks defining these and other similar realities: "the army of good".

It would be nice that gestures of this kind spread more often and everywhere between very young and old.
