To tell his story first, which first moved the States and now the whole world, was the program Un nuevo dìa on Telemundo. In particular, it was the testimony of the difficulties encountered during therapy due to the many restrictions and protocols for the coronavirus, that made his story so heartbreaking. A story that began in January, when he was diagnosed with leukemia in Santiago and immediately began treatments.
But as soon as the Sars-Cov2 epidemic broke out, things began to get even more heartbreaking, with the child's parents who could no longer enter with him during the many chemotherapy cycles he had to go through all alone.
Now Santiago's leukemia has been officially declared in remission and the baby has finally been able to return home:
“We are in a phase where we still can't believe that the treatment is over completely, that he will no longer have to undergo chemotherapy, that he will no longer suffer, that he will no longer cry, that he is completely out of the disease ”, said Ricardo Morales, Santiago's father.
The child will still have to continue to be monitored and undergo medical checks for another two years before being officially declared cured, but surely the worst is over and we hope that life begins to smile at him as he has continued to do in these 8 months of ordeal. .
