What are the cities of the world where lbalance between work and free time is it at its best? Geneva, Zurich and Singapore are the best according to a new study, published in the journal World of Science. The research sought to put together the results of seven other different rankings on the livability of the city globally, resulting in the Global Livable Cities Index.

The result of the joint work of researchers from the Asia Competitive Institute of Singapore, the University of California Davis and Curtin University in Australia, the study divided the main indices into two groups. The first includes those who give a higher value to cities on the basis of economic and financial capabilities and political and cultural ones. The second ranks cities based on whether they have a pleasant living environment, a mild climate and a panoramic location.

After finding out what they are the countries where you can live with 350 euros a month, here are the 20 cities where the work-leisure combination works best:

    1. Geneva

    2. Zurich

    3. Singapore

    4. Copenhagen

    5.Helsinki

    6. Luxembourg

    7. Stockholm

    8. Berlin

    9. Hong Kong

    10. Auckland

    11 Melbourne

    12. Sydney

    15.Amsterdam

    16. Osaka-Kobe

    17. New York

    18. Tokyo

The factors taken into consideration in the index are therefore economic vitality and competitiveness, internal security and stability, socio-cultural conditions, public governance, respect for the environment and sustainability. These factors, each with the same weight, provide a conceptual framework underpinning liveability.

According to the team, a combination of all these factors and many others provides a much more balanced perspective on the value of a city to its inhabitants: “The ethical values implied by a balance between work and play, and a balance between thinking globally and acting locally they are important points for any city, and that most people could accept ”.
